ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES IN AUTOMOBILES

Welcome to My New ADVANCED TECNOLOGIES IN AUTOMOBILES

TECHNOLOGIES IN AUTOMOBILE INDUSTRY

SIDE IMPACT PROTECION SYSTEM

Side impact position is also called as SIPS system. SIPS were first introduced in 1991 for the Volvo 700,900 and 850 car series. The SIPS system works by having reinforced lower gill, b-pillars, and energy absorbing honey comb materials inside the doors. Driver and passenger seat are mounted on the seat rails to absorb additional energy. In 1994 for the 1995 model year “SIPS Bag” was released for 850 models and become standard equipment for all models. This system also consists of mechanically activated air bags

ACTIVE HIGH BEAM

The active high beam function detects the head lamp beams of oncoming traffic or the rear lights of vehicles in front and the lighting from the main beam to dipped beam. Active high beam is also called as AHB. It uses the camera sensor at the top edge of the wind screen to detect the headlamp beam and converts to the dipped beam. The lightning returns to the main beam about to normal position when light is no longer detected.

CITY SAFETY

City safety is an auto brake technology that is used to avoid accident at speeds of 30 kph to 50 kph. All cars sold by Volvo after the year 2014 and the city safety generate II was released in the year 2012.It used lidar laser sensor that monitors area approximately which is in front of vehicle. The city safety determines a collisions if the driver do not respond and automatically applies the brake

CRUISE CONTROL AND ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL

Cruise control is a system that automatically controls the speed of a motor vehicle. This system is mostly used to control the speed of the vehicle constant as set by the driver. Speed control was used in automobile as early in 1900 by peerless. The driver must bring the vehicle up to speed manually and set the current speed. In this system the vehicle is set to constant speed and when the brake is applied the speed reduced and again the cruise has to be set. XC90 has the adaptive cruise control system. These improvements can be automatic braking or dynamic set control. In automatic braking type use radar to allow the vehicle to space with the car if is following. Slow when slowing and goes speed when before car is speeded or accelerated. In dynamic uses the GPS position.

BLIND SPOT INFORMTION

The blind spot information system or BLIS was first introduced by Volvo in 2001. Primarily designed for use on the highway. This detects the vehicle entering the car blind. This is viewed by the camera which is mounted on the mirror and it has upgraded to 70 yard distance.

PERSONAL CAR COMMUNICATOR

This system as first introduced in Volvo S80 model. This system is used to view the security level of the car. It also warns when someone hiding the car.

LANE DEPARTURE WARNING SYSTEM

Lane departure warning system is a mechanism designed to warn the driver when the system begins to move out of its lane on freeways. These systems are developed to minimize the collisions of vehicle

COLLISION WARNING WITH AUTOBRAKE

Collision warning with auto brake is an aid to assist the driver when there is a risk of colliding. This system is an automobile safety system that is used to reduce the severity of collision. This system provides the warning to the driver when the detection is done.

EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION SYSTEM

In internal combustion engine exhaust gas recirculation is a nitrogen oxide emission reduction technique used in petrol, diesel and gas engines. EGR (Exhaust gas recirculation system) works by recirculating the exhaust gas back to cylinder. The first EGR as set in orifice jet and by 1973 EGR was controlled by modified vacuum. The exhaust gas added to the fuel, oxygen and combustion packs increases the specific heat capacity and reduces the temperature of engine. It reduces the throttle loss, heat rejection, chemical dissociation.

BLUE CORE TECHNOLOGY

It was invented by Yamaha. In blue core technology the fuel and the air is supplied separately do that the efficiency and the pickup of the vehicle is increased.

DTSI

DTSI stands for Digital Twin Spark Ignition System. Digital Twin Spark ignition engine has two Spark plugs located at opposite ends of the combustion chamber and hence fast and efficient combustion is obtained.

YACS

YACS- It was invented and used by Yamaha motorcycles. Its main purpose is to provide an additional cooling for spark plug.
